Satisfaction in God. With the peace in satisfaction I find the joy. Not that I have reached some pinnacle of spiritual success where I am in a zen-like state of utter satisfaction with my Lord and savior, but He is my refuge and safe harbor. I seek…

Modesto/Stockton, CA
Relationship Status:
Married
Website:

My Church:
Orangeburg Avenue Baptist
My Ministry(s):
Community Chaplain, College Bible Study
My Vision:
To seek God's guidance in every decision I make for my life and to live according to His commands in obedience and developing disciples. The church needs to assert its relevancy in today's society and can only do so by maintaining an unwavering grasp on Biblical truths by neither adding nor detracting from the Bible. Only through our acceptance of the authority of Jesus Christ and God's word (the Bible) can we truly move forward in carrying out the great commission.
About Me:
I'm a pretty normal guy... family man, returning college student, veteran, and I work as a paramedic in Stockton, CA.
Favorite Music:
old school punk/ska music, lyrical singer/songwriter stuff, roots worship type music. If I can hear the guitarists fingers slide down the chords, then it's probably the type of worship music I like.

Living in the Spirit

On Gal 5:16-26

LIVING IN THE SPIRIT
In verse 16 Paul, who makes the claim that the fleshly desires are at enmity with the Spirit, thus contrasting “flesh” with “love” we can now see that the only way to conquer the flesh is to “live in the Spirit”. But what does this mean?

First, the modifier fleshly is used to describe the desires of fallen, sinful man in the absence of the Holy Spirit's presence and, as logically follows, the Spirit's guidance. The fruits of the Spirit are listed in Gal 5:22… Continue

Finding Joy

There is so much to write on the topic of finding joy that this short little blog article is almost an insult to the topic. The reason there is so much to write on it is because there is so much that goes unsaid on the topic. In a heart that endeavors to fulfill the great commission there is an overwhelming sense of responsibility to exhibit some of the grace that God has shown in the Christian's life to those who have yet to know His glory. Sometimes (or most times) this sense of responsibility… Continue

A quick word on Unity

I want to clear up any misconceptions about the church body and our unity. There are many churches that love God, teach the gospel according to His will and live out the great commission in their day to day lives. There are also glaring gaps in our day to day lives as a church body that deserve some scrutiny. However, it is important to abstain from divisiveness between churches. Christians of the world, independent of their denomination are all part of a family and denominational differences sh… Continue

How to behave and CPR for our congregations

I have a simple etiquette lesson for non-Christians visiting our churches:

As I sat in church listening to Ken Ham re-tell some Biblical stories, I was surprised to see 3 members from the Modesto Junior College Science department sitting in on what I'm sure they thought would be a pickle barrel of straw men and red herring accounts of creationism. As Mr. Ham brought up the story of the tower of Babel, I watched one of my old biology professors throw up her hands in exasperation at the story. At… Continue
